The slots that hold the chips in place are plastic and crack easy. The case is very nice, the chips are good and it comes with extra's.
Poker Set -- Perfect Gift for Poker Lover December 22, 2008
This set came exactly as it was described in the online summary. I was really pleased because sometimes when you order something online there's no way of knowing you will really get what you paid for. But I thought this set was worth the price, the chips are nice, it comes with two decks of cards from the Palms Casino and all the dice, markers and chips you would need for various styles of poker games. My boyfriend, an avid poker player, was very happy to receive this gift. It also comes in a nice, sturdy silver case.
Tri-color Ace/King Set best detail and value for the money December 21, 2008
I did a _lot_ of research online prior to buying my first decent chip set. I am hosting home poker games with 5 or 6 players and the 500 chip set is just the right size. I looked carefully at all the options and wanted to get something a step above the regular dice pattern, but didn't want 14 gram clays with metal inserts either, or the higher end painted clays. The 11.5 gram wheat pattern clays are nice and a great deal, but for home games where I'm not playing on felt, they occasionally get dropped, kicked, drinks spilled on them, etc., so I wasn't 100% sure they would hold up quite as well over the long run. Bottom line the 11.5g clay composites are fine, they have a strong metal insert, and feel a lot like casino chips. I figured as long as I was getting the clay composites I would get the best, and the Tri-colors are that. The tri-colored diamond pattern ones are nice, but only the A/K set has the little engraving touches that add to the chip and are the same price. Service from ChipsAndGames was superb, and they will treat you right. $18 to ship, but hey it's heavy. The aluminum case is nothing super special, but it is well made and the little locks actually work. The packing was great, super small dent on the underside of the aluminum case, but to be expected after being manhandled 12,000 miles and hardly noticeable. The two decks of slightly used Harrahs cards look almost new to me. The dice and dealer chips were as described, and they added a free chip guard. (At the bottom of the shipping box, not in the case. They sell a little chip guard set of 10 chips here for $6.99 which is a fun addition.) A few of the edges (not faces) of some the white chips had a little paint splotching where a bit too much color had been applied, but I was able to get it off with citrus cleaner pretty easily. Affected maybe 30 of the 150 white chips and I'm super picky so most folks wouldn't even notice. FYI, it's hard to get the chip counts on Amazon, so go directly to ChipsAndGames for that, although you can do better price wise here I think, plus you'll get the free Amazon shipping. Standard chip count on these 500 piece sets is: 150 white, 150 blue, 100 red, 50 black and 50 green. I worked with C&G to swap the defaults for blue and red with no problem. There are other mfrs. out there selling similar stuff, but the overall quality can be considerably less IMO. Bottom line, get this set or any other from ChipsAndGames and I think you'll be very happy.

This is a very professional set. I host poker games every other week and my friends were all impressed with the quality of the chips. I am very pleased with it and think it is a fantastic set for money. I liked it so much my sister also bought a set and is very happy with it too!

Got the chips. Held a neighborhood tournement and was hero - the chips helped. They are plastic, but the weight is good and quality was fine. I'm happy.
