Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in traditional glassware. The boron oxide acts as a glue holding the silicate together and due to the small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger glass. Some customers may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to explain the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching.  too delicate December 20, 2008
Bodum double wall is to delicate for espresso--- I have two broken ---- one on bottom and one on lip-----DO NOT BUY THIS!!! unless you can guard it----I have two more that I guess will break --- You just cant be that careful ---Certainly Bodum knows the problem and is probably re-casting as I write or worse yet getting rid of these and hoping the public will just say " oh well my mistake"

These are great little glasses for espresso. They are about 3 oz., so I use them when pulling double shots. The extra ounce allows some room for drips or for pulling the double long. No heat comes through to the outer surface of the glass so you don't burn your fingers and the shot stays hot longer. I love using a transparent glass to show off the crema - it looks like a mini pint of Guiness!

These little glasses work great. Keeps the espresso hot and the vodka cold. I don't dump them in with other dishes to wash them, they appear too fragile, but a little wash and wipe and they're back on the espresso maker.

These glasses are excellent, and elegant, choices for espresso. The double-walled construction keeps your brew warm, and the view of the "crema" through the glass adds a nice visual touch.
