In an array of modern silhouettes, Bodum's Bistro stemware stocks a handsome yet relaxed home bar. This set of two whisky glasses features clear soda lime glass shaped into low-slung vessels that recall the ample sizing of restaurant glassware. Each holding 13 ounces, the glasses curve roundly from their flared rims down to thickly cut bases. The final effect is both hearty and luminescent, and the well-balanced proportions feel pleasantly weighty in the hand. This collection creates a stylish presentation that looks wonderful on any budget-all the more reason to pour a favorite tawny drink whenever the mood strikes. I love my single malt scotch and have been looking for an improvement to the high-ball glasses that I've been using.
I first looked at the high-end crystal scotch whiskey glasses like the Riedel Vinum. Very nice...but a little too expensive for my wallet.
I found these Bodum Bistro glasses and am satisfied. The rounded lip makes for more enjoyment of the single malt aroma and taste. The shape is comfortable for an after-dinner scotch.
The glass quality is along the lines of a simple wine glass that you would pick up at Crate & Barrel. However, you can drop them in the dishwasher - great convenience for everyday use.
My rating for using this as an everyday single malt glass = 5 stars. A good value that is specifically designed for scotch. A big improvement over a high-ball glass.
My rating for impressing visitors with whom you may share your single malts = 3 stars. The quality of the glass will not cause your relatives to go "aahhhh". If you're looking to impress or offer a high-end gift, go with the crystal.
