Want to like it but still not sure January 9, 2009 I suppose if it spun any faster or if the grit was any more coarse I would burn thru my doxies toenails too fast, but using this will take a little longer than expected to get proficient. The long hair between her toes is tough to deal with, so am considering clipping it back before getting her way-long nails back under control. I won't return it, but it will take some practice before I'm pleased with the purchase. Not sure about how to change heads, or what they do: the directions are far too simplistic and not very instructional. But, it ain't rocket science, either. 3 trims at the fluff n'pup will pay for this tool, so I would recommend it. DOES beat the heck out of worrying that a nail clipper will go too close to the quick.
Great nail clipper for my mutts December 31, 2008 This is a wonderful product for those that have anxiety about using the traditional nail clippers like I do. After cutting my dog's nail much too short, I decided to try this out in order to save me the heartache of watching my dog limp around due to my inability to properly clip. It is such a life saver. The noise is a bit loud, so it takes both my husband and I to do this task. One holds her while the other one uses the grinder as she gets scared by it. We usually bribe her with treats though in order to get the job done. :)
Please be aware though that the process itself is not fun as there is an unpleasant odor that comes with grinding the nail down. Also? I would not wear anything that picks up dust easily (like a dark-colored sweater) due to the shavings flying everywhere during the process. I'd even think about picking up some goggles if you don't wear glasses because it can get in your eye during the process.
Overall though, I really like this process as it gives me a little peace of mind that I'm not going to hurt either of my dogs when trimming their nails this way.
Handy tool for pets! December 27, 2008 The Oster Nail Grinder is a handy and easy to use nail trimmer for your dog. Be sure to introduce your pet to the grinder carefully so they are not frightened of it. Long nails will most likely need to be trimmed with hand clipper before using the Oster Grinder first time.
Love it, love it, love it.... December 20, 2008 Product works as stated and does a great job on my dog's nails. Much, much easier than clipping her nails. I would definitely recommend this product.
Great for the money December 9, 2008 My dog is scared stiff of it, but he has always hated anything or anyone touching his nails. For us it is a two person job, but the grider does the trick.
