Not my favorite October 22, 2008 I like the idea of easy, grab and go items, and did really well on the diet plan.
These items were more like eating junk food and didn't fill me up. Kind of dissapointed overall. The taste is great - just not filling.
One great thing about this pack was the "Tide me Over" packets. They were a great find. Just add to cold water and shake - they are delicious and have fiber to get keep you from snacking between meals.
Variety Pack Punch October 15, 2008 This pack is a fantastic way to be able to sample items you may never have had the fun to try in the past. For me, it was the strawberry-banana protein drink mix. Truly enjoyed that ... and will definitely use it in the future. Encourage you to do the same!
Amazon Gold Box Deal Try September 14, 2008 I am glad I got this, got for a great deal. Don't think I would buy the drink mix or the breakfast bars, but the meal bars and the nice mix of trail mix was tasty
Just buy the individual items you like instead of this September 14, 2008 In general I like South Beach products, and have been using them for years. When I saw this item on sale, it looked like a good buy.
I was wrong. When I actually got the box, I realized that I had only saved a small amount over buying these items individually. And one of the four items turned out to be useless to me, so I actually came out behind.
The Cinnamon Raisin bars are fine. The meal bars are pretty good, though you need to be aware that they're significantly larger and have more calories than the various South Beach cereal bars.
The Snack Packs are just OK, and no better than you could get from a variety of other sources. There's nothing that complex about mixing nuts and fruit.
The loser was the box of "Tide Me Over" packets. These are supposed to be mixed with a half-liter of water for an in-between-meals drink. But, unlike all other South Beach products I've seen, these are sweetened with aspartame (Nutrasweet) instead of sucralose (Splenda). I don't like the taste of aspartame, and if I consume very much of it, I get a headache. Various health experts recommend against aspartame, so I'm surprised that South Beach uses it in this product.
All in all, you'll do better waiting on a sale on individual items. The cereal bars, for example, often go on sale at two-boxes-for-$5.
I suppose if you are unfamiliar with all the products and want to sample them, this would be one way to do it. But don't buy this expecting to get any kind of fabulous deal.
Great Snacks August 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
South Beach and Amazon have done it again. The new snacks from South Beach and the combo pack that I've only found on Amazon are great. I started using South Beach techniques almost 2 years ago when I was told I had Diabetes, and in 6 months I was Diabetes free and have been since then. Don't believe the doctors, the drug companies and the Government, Diabetes can be beat, myself and 4 other people I know have done it just by following a good, low-carb diet.
