Disappointed December 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like many of the responses, I was also looking for another option to the Wii Fit. As a Biggest Loser Fan, I immediately pre-ordered this DVD and I have to say that it is a bomb. I agree that the graphics are awkward, but more importantly the sensitivity of the game is off. I was doing the exercises correctly and it did not register right. I had friends try and the same thing happened. I do not have this issue with the WiiFit. Also, the multi-user mode just does not work. Overall, this is very disappointing.
Ultimate Disappointment :-( December 1, 2008 I was so excited to see the Jillian Michaels fitness game for the Wii that I went and bought the Wii system. I pre-ordered the game and was all ready to get going on a super fitness program. I LOVE the Wii system (I purchased Wii Fit) but the Jillian Michaels game is a sad disappointment. It simply does not work. The Wii balance board is a very sensitive and responsive interface for game play. In the Jillian Michaels game, it seems not to work at all! I kept wondering what I had to do to get my character to move. I was following directions but my avatar moved slowly or not at all. I am keeping the Wii and Wii Fit but Jillian is going back to Amazon. I hope they take her.
I had such high hopes for this game December 1, 2008 I really like the Wii fit game but there is one thing I do not like about it - it's the fact that I cannot just pick my moves and do a continuous workout. That's what I was hoping Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatium would fix. I got the game and was all pumped up and excited to try it.
Most of the game I was just 'jogging' - then there were mini games inside. The reaction time on the mini games is horrible and I spend more time over exerting my motions to TRY and get it to register than thinking about my form. With the balance board, you're not allowed to actually JOG on it, so in my mind, I would imagine it would be better to use WITHOUT the balance board so you can get more into the motions and burn more calories.
I will stick with Wii Fit over this one and really wish I would have tried before I bought this game. I have only played my copy 1 time and have no ambition to play it again. Honestly, rent or borrow this game before you buy it to see if you are going to enjoy it.
DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY! November 30, 2008 Bought this today becasue of like everyone you think WOW! Jillian Michael. WRONG! It sucks big time and was a total waste of money. I have now learned my lesson check out the reviews before you buy. I cant believe she has her name on such a bad piece of work.
Save your money, a real disappointment November 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009
What a disappointing bummer. Don't buy it.
I ordered the product pre-release, and finally opened and used it yesterday after pigging out on Thanksgiving and the day after.
Pros: (There are a few good things. Ummm...) + It has graphs to chart your progress + Jillian cheers you on + The "tips" can be helpful. I've heard "remember to breathe" before, but not when to inhale/exhale. + The only "game" that seemed to mimic what I'd expect in doing for real was the up and down movement for the rail car.
Cons: - Slow response time - The game doesn't react to motions correctly, e.g. when throwing a paint bomb the instructions indicate you should extend your arms, I assumed you'd throw much like you'd throw a baseball. Nope, it doesn't register. I had the best luck when I picked up the paint ball and just quickly shoved it towards the TV set. - You jog before/after every exercise. And no mater how fast I jogged, mostly the game reacted to my exaggerated arm movements. - I finally was able to jump from log to log, again, it took exaggerated arm movements. - It told me to try harder, because it didn't register the movements (very irritating). - At the same point in every run, I'd get the same little great job, almost done spiel.
My tips: 1. Use two controllers instead of a controller and a nunchuk (spelling?) so your arm movements aren't limited by the tether. 2. Save your money and buy something else.
