Fun for about 3 minutes, then the blades broke off. ::: sigh ::: May 23, 2008 My son is a major Cars collector. We bought this for him and he was delighted with it and then the blades snapped off and neither he nor we could get them back on properly. They go back on, but they won't seat properly so, you can't make the blades spin with the trigger. He still likes his helecopter, but I was annoyed that we had spent so much on a toy that popped apart in 3 minutes. Oh well. It's still a part of his beloved collection.
Any "CARS" fan would like this toy! April 8, 2008 Bought this for my 4 year old granson and he loves it. It is strong and sturdy for him to play with and he is pretty rough with toys. His two year old brother has dropped it a LOT of times and it still looks and works fine.
pretty big! March 20, 2008 I have to admit, the size of this toy was a little bigger than what i thought it would be. The outer material is very robust and strong, bought this for my 3 year old nephew who loves it. Great handy storage space inside the chopper for keeping smaller cars, etc.. Cool Blue color.
Its already been dropped and flung against a wall many times by my nephew, inspite of which, its still not entirely broken, which considering my nephew's reputation, is actually a good record and test of durability of this product!! :)
Nice fun toy for children, makes for a good gift toy to give.
Took it apart and put it back together to understand how it works. March 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had the same problem as a couple people in that my boy really likes this toy but after a little while the blades stopped spinning with the trigger. I took the entire thing apart and here is what I found out. The blade spinning trigger is connected to a plastic bar which has gear teeth on the side end. The teeth stick into a gear box. Inside the gear box another smaller gear box pivots into engagement with the rotor(blades) hub. When the trigger is released, the smaller pivoting gearbox can move out of engagement with the hub, allowing you to pull the trigger and spin the blades again. This unit seems to be fairly durable and was not the problem with the blades not spinning. What was causing the blades not to spin is this: The hub(center) of the blades is designed to lift out of engagement with the gearbox when the blades are folded. This appears to be so the blades and gearbox don't break when the trigger is pulled when the helicopter is in the box. Once you take it out of the box and align the five blades open, the hub snaps down flat and the blades hub gear engages, allowing the trigger to work. End of gearhead comments. ************ S u m m a r y - If you are having problems with the trigger not spinning the blades, make sure the blades are opened and evenly spaced. This will mean the three big black hub disks at the center of the blades are all laying flat together with no spaces between them. This will allow the gear to engage. If it feels like the blades are going to break trying to align them at first you may want to grasp the sides of the hub disks and pull up when aligning the blades as this will make it much easier to line them up properly and the hub spring will pull them back together as soon as you let go of the hub. Hope this helps to put more helicopters back in action.
Great for a 3 year old! January 11, 2008 I bought this toy for my Grandson's third birthday and he absolutely loves it. The button to open the doors is a little tough for him to work, but I'm sure it won't be a problem for long. He repeats everything it says and loves the helicopter noise. Definitely worth the money!
