| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Played for centuries in the ports of England, this game now makes its way to your living room. And with a classic wood box and tiles, Shut the Box still keeps its Old Century charm. To play, simply roll the dice and lay down any combination of tiles to match your roll. Keep rolling until you can't match your roll on the remaining tiles. Lowest score wins. Lay down all the tiles and you've "Shut the Box." Easy to learn, this classic game is fun for the whole family. For any number of players. Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Seal Award.

Nice feel to it ..., but light on long-term replay value May 3, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Bookshelf edition game series has a lot of very nice quality games. The components tend to be top-notch, and generally the games have a high replay value.
You pay a little more for them, but the quality and replay value more than make up for a bit higher price tag.
This game was a little disappointing compared to the rest of the series. The game in fact is a copy of shut the box that is a medieval game that was often played by sailors of the era.
The game comes in a nice wooden box with a set of wooden dice. The dice are not high quality.
The game has some strategy involved, but it lacks the replay value of some of the other games in the series.
I would immediately replace the wooden dice with something more durable.
Simple and fun January 11, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my mentally challenged brother after playing it at a friends house. It is great for keeping your arithmetic skills honed. It is just plain fun and you can adapt the game to meet the users needs. My brother throws the dice and then puts the appropriate key or keys down. He doesn't keep score but it kept him occupied and using his counting skills. We heard that box shutting all Christmas day.
Fun but Flimsy January 9, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Our whole family loves this game. I like this version because it includes the history and rules of the game on the inside cover. I also like that you can close the cover and not lose the dice. The construction is a little flimsy and there is not enough felt on the board which makes the dice rolling a little noisy. We added a piece of felt on top of the board and it is much better.
