Product Description A swirl of a black cape, a single red rose, a glimpse of a face she thought never to see again the story begins like all stories of true love with passion, confusion, and fate playing a hand. Vicomtesse Christine de Chagny, once known as the beautiful ingenue Christine Daae of the Paris Opera House, has stepped into her husband s world of titled nobility. Newly-wed to Raoul de Chagny, the allure of a fresh beginning promises to dispel the young couple s disturbing memories of a cursed Opera House and the Phantom who haunted it. Yet, a past so unresolved cannot stay silent. The Phantom returns, no longer a broken ghost, but a riveting man. With his usual audacious style, he beguiles and beckons, daring Christine to complete her journey from naive girl to courageous woman. How far will any man go to achieve his heart s desire?

Not as bad as most November 29, 2008 The Phantom Returns by Stefanie Cole can be summarised by "Christine is unhappy, Christine hooks up with Erik, Raoul moves out of the picture and Erik and Christine have a child." On the whole, it reminded me of a condensed version of The Return of the Phantom by Etienne de Mendes, only more pleasurable than Mendes' book due to its brevity and merciful lack of convoluted melodrama.
It was not a great book, but it was not as bad as most of them are. If you're looking for sex, you might want to skip this one. But for a Phantom purist like myself, you do not have to go in dreading the experience.

A must-read for any Phantom Phan!!! November 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Whether you are a die-hard Phantom phan, or simply a fan of the play or film, you will not be disappointed. Ms. Cole is able to capture the very essence of what the Phantom of the Opera is all about...redeeming love. At the same time, she tells a thoroughly entertaining story, picking up where we left off with the characters in this timeless tale. She also brilliantly dives deep into the heart, mind, and soul of the the main characters (Phantom, Christine, Raoul), and even the sub-characters at certain points. For me, allowing the reader to truly understand why a character is the way they are or thinks the way they think is the hallmark of any great work. And Ms. Cole beautifully captures this with such detail and emotion. BRAVA!

A Must Read! June 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently read this book, as it came recommended by a fellow phan. The plot was a unique telling of the oft told story of the Phantom and his Christine. The writing was solid and the author wove a compelling and believeable scenario. I truly hope Ms Cole has another Phantom tale in her. Her's was a delight to read. My only complaint is that it was entirely too short! A great rainy day read!
