Editorial Reviews:

Twenty years after her landmark Watermark album, Enya's seventh studio disc, And Winter Came continues a phenomenally successful career that has included more than 70 million albums sold worldwide. And Winter Came is an enchanting evocation of the changing landscape of winter as well as the festive cheer of the holidays. One of the most successful female artists of all-time, and second only to U2 as the biggest selling Irish artist in history, Enya brings her beguiling and ethereal music to bear on the darkest and yet most hopeful season with And Winter Came.

5 out of 5 stars Divine music from Eithne Patricia Ni Bhraonain!   December 2, 2008

Being a major fan of Enya from the beginning of her solo career, I was caught off guard about this release (as in only every five years). It has a beautiful catalogue of songs, several being formulaic Enya but as said, that is a good thing! Her ethereal cover of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel is inspiring. A new chorale interpretation of "Oiche Chiuin is simply mesmerizing!

A must have for Enya fans and a unique experience for new fans as well.

5 out of 5 stars And Winter Came... Beautiful it is.   December 2, 2008

I have not ever disliked a cd from Enya and I am glad this one proves it again. While Enya may not be for everyone due to the wonderful relaxing, emotional, and sometimes spirit lifting tones mixed with beautiful lyrics and a voice that is unique I feel that this cd is an exception and everyone should at least listen to it at least one time.

I am not one for classic holiday music since it is overdone to death and this is not what you would consider classic but in its own right it will become a classic at least in my collection.

A beautiful mix of music for background or just to listen to that will hopefully bring you and your family or loved ones into a loving holiday spirit.

Happy Holidays.

4 out of 5 stars Nice album for the holidays   December 2, 2008

This is a great album for the holidays: some classic Christmas tracks interpreted by Enya in her own Celtic way. So, except for the track with the electric guitar solo (can't luckily seem to find it again), this also happens to be pretty much your typical Enya album.

If you are seeking for an innovative Enya work, forget about it. As you can imagine from the album name, "And Winter Came" is definitely a nice track set to go along a cold winter night...

1 out of 5 stars What a Disappointment   December 1, 2008

What's with the never-ending Christmas theme? We all love holidays, but come on! Also, the scaling back of vocals does not make this genre of music better.. it makes it worse. Look for other, more interesting artists who are using multiple vocal layers. Enya is too far out of touch now.

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!!!!   December 1, 2008
I love Christmas music, but even so, all the traditional, as well as newer versions of Christmas songs can get tiresome. Therefore, it was with great enthusiasm when I purchased 'And Winter Came.' Wow! Something different and more! While the album is dramatic, it is still very sweet! I am so glad I took a chance!
