Haven't I seen this before? November 21, 2008 Amateur, unoriginal and awful. The movie is just a cheap variation/ripoff of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wrong Turn, the Hills Have Eyes, etc...Thank God I saw this for free (on Fearnet). It wasn't even scary since I've seen it all before. I wish Hollywood would stop rehashing the same old tired themes.
The Butcher June 7, 2008 This movie isnt even worth spending $2.00 on, a waste of time more stupid than scary
Why Do I Continuously Waste My Money On Crap Like This?? January 2, 2008 This movie was terrible!! It was such a terrible ripoff of such amazing murder movies, and these ripoff movies are just getting old and tired after a really long time. I can't believe I waste my hard-earned money on this dribble of horror.
The Butcher's basis is around six friends on a roadtrip to Vegas when they get trapped when their car crashes, killing one of the lesbian characters Liz (Tiffany Kristensen). They search for help at a nearby ranch house, but find that they are being stalked by a psychotic family of murderers.
It may seem like a very creepy plot, but looks are deceiving in this terrible ripoff of good horror movies. The plot is ridiculously unoriginal. The acting is bad; the movie is badly played out. The blood and guts are so fake it's ludicrous and a disgrace to the gory movies out there. The deaths are okay, like most movies starting out very good, but then falling flat on their face by the end. I'm tired of seeing the same deaths in different movies all the time!
The script is absolutely atrocious and laughable. I don't think any script could get worse than this, and if there is a script worse than the one for The Butcher, I applaud whichever movie that is. I couldn't believe that a writer could make a script as awful as this one.
And, I mean, what the hell is up with the same ending to every horror film nowadays?? It's old and tired, and doesn't need to be used over and over and over again. It boggles my mind.
Overall, this is a terribly atrocious horror film that disgraces the name of horror. It is not a must-see, far from a must-buy, and if you do truly want to see it, I am not recommending, rather TELLING you to rent it first. And make sure the rent price is below five dollars.
A love story September 3, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the second horror movie I watched in one day with the name butcher in it. This movie is not a typical horror movie and actully was a bit refreshing to watch. It was about a family who doesnt really bother anyway (at least they dont show it) who just happens to have kids wonder onto there farm. The family kills some of the kids and they hardyly have a reason too. There is hardly any gore and they seem to be a normal family expect for they are disfigured. I guess they could have done more to the story to tell it better. It was sad to see the sheriff kill the man's wife but who knows if she was dead. I dont know if anyone will like this picture.
Oh, sorry, I must have been snoring. April 13, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Butcher (Edward Gorsuch, 2006)
And here we have, yes, another young-and-beautifuls-go-to-an-old-scary-house-and-get-massacred movie. Bad acting. Increasingly-common variation on old horror movie rule (instead of straight kids having sex, there's a pair of lesbians, who must, of course, suffer gruesome ends-- this isn't a spoiler, as the first occurs in the extended opening scene. So the lesbian must die even before they encounter the guy who does the massacring. Silly, anyone?). Awful, awful script. Incredibly predictable plot twist. Yeah, there's really nothing good to say about this movie. Some wag on the IMDB boards called it (forgive my paraphrasing) a bad remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre combined with a bad remake of The People Under the Stairs, and he's right. *
