Product Description Elvis Presley the undisputed king of rock performs in a concert recorded on December 3 1968. Airing as an NBC special this spectacular performance--his first T.V. performance in eight years--has become legendary. Performing alone as well as in special jam sessions with Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana his early backing musicians Elvis puts on the kind of crackling charismatic show which helped make him the most famous rock & roll star of all time.Format: DVD AUDIO Genre: MUSIC DVD/CONCERTS Rating: NR UPC: 828767050591 Manufacturer No: 05059

One of his best shows June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This DVD provides the basic overview of Elvis' 1968 Comeback Special -- a show that I consider one of the best Elvis concerts available on DVD along with Elvis - That's the Way It Is (Two-Disc Special Edition) and Elvis - Aloha from Hawaii (Deluxe Edition DVD).
The DVD starts with the opening production number (Trouble/Guitar Man; That's All Right; and Baby What You Want Me To Do). This is followed by a medley of 9 well-known songs performed in black leather, a gospel production number (4 songs), 7 additional songs performed in black leather, Guitar Man production number (10 songs), and the finale (If I Can Dream). The bonus features include Having Fun with Elvis in Burbank (funny moments from the production of the special), and a photo gallery. This much material should suffice for an average Elvis fan or for those who want to get to know Elvis better.
If you don't want to miss any details, you should consider getting Elvis - The '68 Comeback Special: Deluxe Edition (3DVD) that includes 7 hours of materials on 3 DVDs (complete 2-black leather mini concerts and 2 jam sessions, adapated broadcast version of the concert, unused takes from production numbers, etc.). The Deluxe version also includes Blue Christmas that is unfortunately missing from this DVD.
68 comeback special February 27, 2008 The best was yet to come but this is a wonderful start to see the raw talent this man had!!!!!
The one and forever only! February 27, 2008 Watched this many years ago and it still thrills me to see Elvis at his most intimate live appearance. He has such a rapport with the audience and is having an obviously good time. In my opinion nothing will ever be as great as this performance was. I could watch this three times a day and not tire of it.
Elvis Still Lives! February 2, 2008 My life is complete now that I own this. It is amazing and worth every cent. The way he does Blue Swede Shoes and Jailhouse rock are amazing! This arrived at my doorstep three days earlier than expected. Elvis is funny and a great singer, and he showed that more than ever in this DVD. Now I may be a "kid" but I know music, and I know good music, and this is good music. 5 stars from me. A must-buy.
Elvis at his best January 27, 2008 Takes you 40 years back, when we were young and he was at his best, full of life and joy, and gives you the very taste of 60-es.
