Amazon.com It's hard to know what to make of this full-length, lavishly produced concert by Sarah Brightman, a singer and performer who seems to have been born a half-century too late. Had she come on the scene in the 1950s, when Broadway musicals were a career stepping-stone to recording contracts and TV variety-show guest appearances, Brightman could have had a Julie Andrews-type career. But Brightman, one-time companion of Andrew Lloyd Webber (who gave her the starring role in Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera), is trying to find her concert market a decade after her Phantom success. One Night in Eden, a live performance of a solo album, has elaborate, stagey set pieces that look like a bizarre cross between Stevie Nicks and Madonna. And Brightman has the musical taste of a pretentious Celine Dion (she even sings Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" in Italian, as though this gives it class). Her pudgy build isn't enhanced by the half-dozen gowns (she favors the Pre-Raphaelite) she changes into in a show that is apparently for fans only. --Marshall Fine

Sarah's DVD October 6, 2008 just a short interview is what you get from Sarah, except from the concert itself... more extras would be nice
Sarah great as always September 19, 2008 in very nice live concerrt DVD. I loved very much all sceneries with african heritage surroundings before and after the concert. For people who are starting their Sarah Brightman collection this is a great DVD. I am having few DVD's and CD so now majority of songs is repetitive just in different packaging. But I like it.
Sarah Brightman One Night in Eden September 5, 2008 I saw a performance on public television and it was the first time I had seen or heard Sarah Brightman. Then I got this cd knowing it was not as recent as the performance I had just watched, but I hoped it would be close to the same since the cd isn't that old. Unfortunately it is quite a bit less creative than what I saw on PT. There is a killer performance she has done of Phantom of the Opera with a towering pipe organ and her standing on a platform at the top end of the pipes and the sound is...well it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, it is that incredible. So I was somewhat disappointed. However her voice is wonderful no matter what and she is still very captivating. But I hope you will be able to acquire the cd that public broadcasting was promoting eventually.

I have enjoyed listening to Sarah since I heard her sing on the Phantom of the Opera, the original cast recording. When she puts on a concert, she also entertains. I got spoiled with her La Luna concert which I really prefer to this one. This one was not weaker, just different in presentation. I enjoy everything that she does. This concert is not as spectacular as La Luna but her voice is just as nice to listen to. If you like Sarah, you will like this concert. I recommend it. I appreciated her comments in her interview on this DVD that some songs just sound better when sung in the language that they were written in. I love to hear her sing in Italian.
Watch Sarah B. DVD collection to see if she's the Queen of lip-sync (as accused)! March 28, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am amazed to read about people who hates her and called her that name in the "One night in Eden" DVD. I heard that she is the singer who people either adore or love to hate but...look at her DVD for yourself! I watched her other concert DVDs and recently I watched her DVD in VEGAS. You can clearly see that her voice is soaring...and NOT lip-sync ! Not even Ms. Celine Dion can match Sarah if she screamed her heart out. (Sorry!) Not only that she sang so well, she know how to put on a SPECTACULAR, breath-taking show! Gosh, I am floored. Hail the original voice of "Phantom of the Opera"!
