Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Perfect for all-family fun and friendly gatherings, the Halex 64304 Proton eight-player electronic dartboard helps keep your walls from getting marked with its six soft-tip brass darts and electronic scoring panel. Users have the choice of scoring via two different methods: four players individually or four two-person teams.

The digital scoreboard provides sound effects and announcer feedback.
Once you've figured out the teams, the board's LCD display is programmed for up to 20 games with 65 variations, including dedicated cricket scoring. In addition, the board's Cybermatch feature lets you play against the dartboard computer at five different playing levels, from beginner to professional. Finally, the Proton offers traditional segment colors and a diameter of 13.75 inches, making it look just like a classic dartboard. Bundled with two mounting screws and wall-mounting instructions, the Proton is backed by a one-year warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Great Dartboard   January 6, 2009
Absolutely love this dartboard. Bought this for my young girls and they play it all the time. I enjoy it quite a bit. It is much better than I expected.

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good value with one minor annoyance   January 2, 2009
I bought this as a gift for my 6yo son, but really, it was a gift the whole family (all 6 of us) could use. For the money, I think this was a good value set. The darts positively stick to the board and accurately register in the electronic scorekeeper. My older son has accidentally thrown the darts repeatedly past the dart board and against the sliding glass door or the concrete wall -- and he throws the darts hard! -- and so far only one dart tip has broken (a few others are a little bent, but I can hardly fault the game vendor for that). This set came with extra dart points, so that's nice. We've had quite a bit of fun playing different dart games.

One feature I wish it had -- and maybe a higher-end model would have this -- is a speaker that would announce the game menu options. Instead, selecting a game requires choosing from game "01" or "02" or "03 etc. -- that's not intuitive. It'd be nice to hear, "Three hundred and one" or "Round the clock" -- you know, the real name of the game.

The reason I gave this four stars, though, was because of one game playing annoyance. After three darts are thrown, you have to press a button on the dart board so the scorekeeper function knows the next player is starting. But sometimes, you have to press that button twice -- the first time it says, "Next player" and then the second time is says, "Player One". Why do we have to press that button twice? Why, after registering three dart throws, can't the game just announce that the next player is up and skip the button pushing altogether? Worse, the button you have to press is the same size and right underneath the Power button, so if you're not careful, you'll actually power-down your dartboard and lose the score for the game you were playing. That's just bad design.

So, in sum, the overall value is good, be wary of the placement of the Power button, and be prepared to press the "Next Player" button a lot during the game.

5 out of 5 stars lovely for beginners   December 28, 2008
i've never played before, but i enjoy using this with my husband as it was his Christmas present. he loves it. we haven't broken any darts yet, but lots of holes in the wall!

3 out of 5 stars Keep the receipt   December 5, 2008
We received this dartboard Christmas of 2007 as a gift. Nov. 2008 the 3 point area wouldn't register. I called the manufacturer. They are unable to assist me without a receipt. We did not have a receipt because it was a christmas gift from a distant relative. While most companies understand the situation if it is a christmas gift, Halex will not.

While most companies are interested in good customer service, this company will not work with customers. If you get this as a gift, thoroughly read the manual and make sure you get/have the receipt.

3 out of 5 stars low expectations barely met   December 1, 2008
Darts fall apart without extra adhesive.
Darts have difficulty catching on to the board.
Board was surprisingly tricky to hang evenly.
Fortunately I only paid 15 bucks for it.
