BioGlide motion technology offers a natural-feeling 18-inch stride while the trainer's BioFit design will provide a comfortable feel on the footpads and handlebars. The handlebars also feature grip heart rate monitoring which allows you to track your heart rate while you're exercising. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips. Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home. Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer January 8, 2009 received the trainer about a week after ordering it. took about 3 hours to put together, no problems, everything fit together nicely, I thought the directions were easy to follow and understand. The machine is quiet and smooth, and can give you an excellent workout. For the money, I would highly recommend this machine.

If Something Happens, Don't Count on Schwinn to Help! January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I loved my Schwinn 430, so much that I recommended it to 2 other people. Then after 6 months of regular use (3x/wk) it broke. Kind of like when a chain comes off a bike there was no resistance. Called Customer Service and the girl thought she had it figured out, said it was under warranty and sent a replacement part. All was good until I got the part with no other info. No way of knowing how to install it, no directions, nothing. I called back Cust Service 4 times, left 2 messages and never got a call back. Finally go thru and was told I'd just have to figure it out myself, probably have to buy special tools to get the thing apart and that basically I was out of luck in getting any assistance because there is only a 90 day labor warranty. Moral of the story is, if it breaks...you've probably wasted all of your money because fixing it is about impossible. Seems like a machine like this shouldn't have broke after 6 months anyway, leads me to believe this is an extremely cheap product!
Glad I chose this one January 4, 2009 I had been shopping for a while for an elliptical. I did some research and for the price this model had the best reviews. I had a cheap elliptical years ago but it didn't compare to this one. It's very quiet with a smooth movement. Very stable, doesn't rock or move around when in use. It took about 3 hours to put together and I'm pretty experienced since I've probably had every kind of exercise equipment out there at one time or another. The parts could have been labeled better but everything fit together perfectly. Now all I need is the motivation to keep using it.
