Amazon.com Product Description Forget the gym. Now you can enjoy a full cardio workout in the comfort of your home or office with this compact elliptical trainer from Stamina Products. Unlike full-size ellipticals, this trainer doesn't have arms or a front console. Instead, the trainer is essentially foot pedals only, with a chassis that's small enough to store under a desk or in a closet. Despite the small size, the trainer still packs a workout wallop, letting you burn a similar number of calories as jogging but without the risk of injury to the back, knees, hips, or ankles. Just keep your feet moving on the pedals--which continually oscillate in a low-impact manner--and you're set. Other details include sturdy steel construction, non-slip pedals, and an electronic fitness monitor that tracks the number of strides per minute, total number of strides, exercise time, and calories burned. About Elliptical Trainers Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips. Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home. Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.

Compact but effective perfect for NYC apartment January 3, 2009 I just purchased this last week. It was easy to assemble. I got on it for the first time this afternoon and took a few minutes to get comfortable but really worked well. It feels more like a stepper than a true elliptical but the motion is circular and the weight is definitely off your knees. I'm a former exercise nut who has been out shape for 6 months and it worked me fine. If you squat you work your glutes, if you stand straight it works your core. I agree with another review that it is helpful to workout in a doorway to stabilize yourself quickly if you lose balance which you can early on given there is no upper body support. I also picked up my handweights and used those while working out so overall I'm so much happier than I thought I'd be. I've put a bathmat under it to help stabilize it completely and it does rock slightly but it really is slightly once you get into the swing. Great value for money but moreover best compact cardio possible.
Really Amazing December 25, 2008 I was looking for a exercise machine that was small enough (or portable enough)to use watching T.V.--I get really, really bored otherwise. I ran across this and read the reviews (very positive overall). So I ordered one and to tell you the truth I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised! It works perfectly, is fun to use, quiet, easy on the knees, and well made. Plus it hides behind my easy chair in the family room so I can watch T.V., and doesn't make the room look like a nutcase lives there.
I have to agree about it being good for short people (I'm 5'3") and also about the balance. I lose my balance on flat ground with flat shoes so I doubt I will ever use it without holding on to the back of the chair.
So overall for the price, it's very, very cool. My 22 year year old daughter is now begging for one for her apartment.
I Highly Recommend This Product! December 22, 2008 I purchased this product a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It is light enough for me to pull it into the living room to use while watching TV and then store it in the closet when I am done. I love the timer and calorie counter; I am able to work up a good sweat and burn 250 calories in just 25 minutes! I just jump on it while I am watching the news at night and I am finished before the weather is off!
**I read some of the reviews that said it was hard to keep balance, but I have not had any problems at all keeping my balance without holding on to anything.
I highly recommend this product!
Wonderful Spacesaver & Exercise Machine December 12, 2008 This is a wonderful piece of equipment. It is small so doesn't take up a lot of room. It came in the mail fine and was really easy to put together. It works wonderfully, you do need to stand next to something so you don't fall off of it until you get the hang of it. Also, I think if you weigh more than 200 lbs it's probably not the little walker for you. I think maybe the people that had trouble with it braking on them weighed too much for such a small walker. I totally love it.
Very good product! December 11, 2008 After having this little machine for a week now, I can say that in the beginning, I wasn't sure if I'd like it. The first time on it was a little awkward because we have to keep our balance and are not used to it, but after a few minutes, you get into it. I came to love it and am kind of addicted to doing it now, I put on music and go for it, after only four days, I'm up to thirty minutes. I wouldn't recommend more than ten minutes to begin ,because it gets hard on the legs, my calves were very sore the next morning after the first time, I did fifteen minutes, which , I guess, was too much. All in all ,I rate it a four star because the stride could be a little longer. But, it's a great machine, sturdy and very quiet, you could watch your favorite TV program while on it ,if you so choose. Again a great product from Amazon.com
