JUST ANOTHER SAD LOVE SONG BREAKIN' ME! May 29, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Braxton's debut album was a sure bet, making such a fution between POP and R&B music in a time where music was clothed with GRUNGE and GANSTA RAP, she sure went through that time and stayed alive, this album if filled with pure cleverness sure the LA REID and FACE team put a lot of work on this, the sultry and sexy voice of TONI, and the well written songs makes many of the tracks unforgettable. For me the highlight of the whole album should be "Another Sad Love Song", just for the drama input in it, "Breathe Again" a obvious POP crossover track, that sounds all over the AC stations still, and the most romantic track with a hearbrekin' story behind, "You Mean The World To Me" it's my second choice of this classical R&B record, the title say it all, and the voice of Braxton assures that, "Seven Whole Days" I love the first verse of this song, and the word TACKY, that's the whole of it, this is an URBAN directed song, and did well on the R&B charts, has such a VIBE feelin' a great tune, "HOW MANY WAYS" it's a perfect slow jam, I recent the difficulty of getting the R Kelly mix, but the original arragement here will do the trick, because still owns the spirit of it, "Spending My Time With YOu" the most uptempo track of all, i always like this, but now sounds dated, but I still remember that this was one of the first tracks that I liked, so maybe you will too, "Candlelight" I believe this is stupid, but doesn't sound that bad, "Love Should Brought You Home" the first hit, this song it's complicated to explain, what I can say it's that it's a typical love and want you back type of song, overall the album debut has many good track that makes every penny spent on it worth it, and the album should be remember as one of the most succesful album of the early 90's, selling over 8 million copies, way to go TONI.

Beautiful. Everything fits together. A great voice, great songs and a great production....her very first hits. "Breathe again" is such a classic. A very good buy
now December 31, 2003 now this is what I am talking about. She can sing some sad ballads boy, get your tissues ready. Her voice does sound like anita baker but lets get over the comparisons. This album will last for decades.
